In the aftermath of the May 2023 flood that hit Emilia-Romagna, particularly the Ravenna area, Assorisorse launched a fundraising campaign titled “A Water Pump for the Territories” in collaboration with Amici della Terra and the Municipality of Ravenna.
The goal was to purchase an innovative, high-power water pump. This project brought together the entire Energy sector to tackle natural disasters similar to those that severely impacted the region’s population and economy. Various associations participated, including ANFIDA, ANIMA, ANIMP, Assoambiente, Confindustria Energia, Proxigas, ROCA, and Unem. Thanks to contributions from 49 companies and associations, including Fores Engineering and the Rosetti group, as well as 22 individuals, a total of €372,000 was raised for the purchase of a water pump suited to the needs of the territory.
The fundraising campaign responded to the collective request from the Municipality of Ravenna, the Fire Brigade, and Civil Protection to equip the area with technologically advanced tools for emergency situations. The pump is compact, easily transportable, and consists of portable submersible pumps powered by hydraulics, capable of drawing up to 50,000 liters per minute. The concept and technical features of the pump were identified, evaluated, and developed in collaboration with experts from Rosetti Marino.
The system allows for the extraction and transfer of large volumes of water, even in situations with significant elevation differences. The length of the hydraulic pipes ensures easy and quick access to water bodies, channels, basins, and flooded areas.
The water pump was officially donated by Amici della Terra to the Municipality of Ravenna on Wednesday, May 15, in a ceremony held at Rosetti Marino in Ravenna, attended by local authorities, the involved companies, and project participants.
